WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE WORKSHOP?
-Music in the Air-History and tradition of Gospel Music (includes video examples of various
Gospel singing); early Gospel sound to modern Gospel; Gospel/spiritual,blues, folk, jazz, funk
-Power of Music
-Power of singing and singing together (Singing connect us to our “insides” to others and to
the world outside of us, being part of something greater than ourselves.
-Technique of Gospel Style singing
-Learning (by rote, no with scores) a number of Gospel style songs (4-6)

REFLECTIONS ON “LIFT EVERY VOICE” GOSPEL WORKSHOP
A gospel style workshop was held in September, 2023 in Comox-here’s a few of the reflections
from some of the 44 participants.
-emotionally I felt connect again to some difficult situations.  It was very moving, hard and also
good for me.  “  One of the songs learned “Don’t let Nobody turn you around” was the
empowering answer to these emotions.
-I enjoyed the workshop from beginning to end.  I have loved gospel style music all my life.  It
is the most expressive music that I know. Body, mind and  soul all together.
-My heart is full!
-I loved how you taught each part separately and then we put them all together piece by
piece.  I also very much appreciated how organized you were with the slide show & videos,
along with the stories and of course, the music.
-This is my 3rd workshop with you and each time I get notice, I realize I have been dwelling in a
spiritual desert and need to get an “oasis” experience to recharge, recondition, restore and
recommit  my heart, soul and spirit to open and receive more healing.
-What a joy to be part of and take part in this music healing journey.  The stories, the sharing,
the feeling, the emotional connection to the sound created by the whole being “one voice”
together. Thank you.
